Social Events

Alchester Running Club organises a range of social events throughout the year. These include summer evening social runs held at local pubs in the area. In previous years, club members have visited Dublin to compete in a race and enjoy a weekend of sight seeing and socialising along with away weekends to Coniston and Hastings. A few of our members ran the Paris marathon in April 2024.

Social runs

These runs will replace the regular Thursday night club run on the nights in question, so look out for details in our weekly newsletter, and contact us on to let us know if you want to come along. New members welcome!

Next run: Thursday 11 July 2024

Start/finish point: tbc

The route will be multi-terrain.

Meet at 6.45 pm for a 7.00 pm start, or join us afterwards for drinks from 8.00 pm.

Dates for the diary

Wednesday 17 July – drinks after Waddesdon 5k

Annual Awards Night

Our annual End of Season awards celebrate our individual and collective achievements and to recognise those who contribute to the running of the club. We present awards for the Club Championships and ‘members choice’ award categories. The event is subsidised by the club and includes food, drink, dancing, a raffle and the draw for the club entry into the London Marathon (eligibility criteria apply).

Our 2023 awards took place on Friday 10 November at Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa in Chesterton. Thank you to the social committee for all your hard work organising the event.

Ridgeway Relay

We usually enter a few teams for the Ridgeway Relay organised by Marlborough Running Club each June, followed by a dinner back in Bicester in the evening. We encourage members of all paces and levels of experience to take part. It is a great introduction to trail running and a chance to explore some beautiful countryside just on our doorstep.

The 2024 event will be on Sunday 23rd June. See the newsletter for details or contact Andy Stickley to sign up.
