Hi,
Another email with quite a bit of info & looming deadlines so please double check that you’ve actioned accordingly.
Motavation
Deadline is fast approaching. Please refer to the emails of last 2 weeks with full entry details & contact for Alan Bowen (cc’d)
If you’re new to the club or to the Mota-vation races then read on for more information, but in summary they’re good fun, chip timed, and suitable for any member of any pace – they were the first races I ever entered with the club when I joined in 2004 They’re well worth doing!
The Oxford Green Belt Way Relay – Sunday July 9th 2023
The Oxford Green Belt Way is a 52 mile circular route around Oxford’s green belt.
The route is on a mixture of trails, fields, footpaths and country lanes, and passes through villages with good accessibility and parking. A perfect route for a relay!
After a successful trial event in 2022 the organisers are looking to expand the event in 2023.
The Relay is in 8 stages of between 4.7 and 9 miles, starting and finishing at Risinghurst cricket ground.
With the exception of checkpoints there will be no marshals on the course – runners will need to self-navigate and will be responsible for their own safety at all times.
This is an invitation-only event among Oxfordshire running clubs. The organisers are aiming for 12-15 teams and encourage runners of all speeds – the aim of the event is an inclusive challenge rather than a race.
Alchester have registered their interest however we’re looking for someone to take this on for the club and organise the team or should I say carry the baton 😊
If you’re keen to organise, take part or both please let Gary, Andy or Jonathan know before Friday 7th April or comment on the facebook post.
Please note this is a challenge not a race. No entry fee, no affiliation or club kit is required
Club Nights
Tuesday & Thursday as normal this week from their winter locations. 18:50 for a 19:00 start.
Date to be confirmed this week for summer move on a Tuesday so watch this space.
Thursday will be a watch this space if it stays dry – you’ve probably noticed the fields are saturated currently.
All welcome to both – the more the merrier!
Club Championship
Obviously disappointing yesterday that White Horse was cancelled at the last minute.
We’ll let you know what if any plans there are on a replacement.
Have a good week
